Member platforms for associations & networks

The member platform your association owns.

Portal, directory, renewals and events on one member record — designed around how your members actually work, then handed over to you. Code, data and accounts, all in your name.

Fixed-fee, three-week audit. A blueprint and a price either way.

Good morning, Amara.

The short version

Most associations rent five tools and pay someone to keep them talking. You could own one.

01 — The patchwork

Five subscriptions, and someone paid to hold them together.

02 — The platform

Six parts. One member record underneath.

Nothing to integrate, because nothing was ever separate. Every screen reads and writes the same record.

CRM

One record for everyone

Every organisation and person, with everything that has happened to them — dues, chapters, events and requests.

AI, built in

AI that works on your own record. Safely.

You can only put AI on member data you control. Because the platform is yours, its assistants and automations read the same record, follow the same permissions, and wait for a person before anything reaches members, unless you decide a step is safe to automate.

  • Members get answers

An assistant that answers from your own pages, with the source linked, and hands over to staff when it is unsure.

  • Staff ask the record

“Who has not renewed and registered for Lisbon?” in plain English, plus renewal risk flagged weeks early.

  • The board keeps control

Your accounts, your permissions, data never used for training, and a monthly cost cap.

See AI across the platform

Nothing reaches members without a person, unless you decide a step is safe to automate.

The platform, in use

  1. Search by service, region or chapter, then send a request straight from the listing. It lands on both records.

  2. Membership and the conference pass, paid in one payment. Nobody sees lapsed after paying.

  3. Every renewal, request and registration in one place. No Monday export, no re-typing.

The arithmetic

What the patchwork really costs, over five years.

$1,700

$40
Scope of the platform

Assumes a $9,000 audit and $1,400 a month to run it. Subscriptions and staff costs rise 5% a year; running costs stay flat. Illustrative until an audit replaces these with your numbers.

Renting, 5 years

$228,098

Owning, 5 years

$188,000
Renting five toolsOwning one platform

The lines cross in year 4. Over five years owning costs about $40,098 less — and the association ends up owning its system.

Of today’s $41,280 a year, $12,480 is hidden in staff time.

03 — How it works

Four calm stages. You decide at every one.

The first step is priced so a board can say yes, and it ends with a number either way.

  1. Audit

    3 weeks · fixed fee

Every tool, plugin and workaround mapped. You get a blueprint and a fixed quote — yours to keep, whoever builds it.

  2. Design

    Clickable before it’s built

Member journeys, the data model and every screen designed for your association only, tested with real members first.

  3. Build

    In accounts in your name

An open, widely used stack, a documented codebase and a written handoff. Typical range $60–200k, set by scope.

  4. Run

    Or take it in-house

Hosting, support and improvements for a monthly fee sized to the platform. The code is yours, so you can take it in-house.

04 — Ownership

Built for one association. Owned by it.

05 — Work

Three kinds of proof. None of them a logo.

Platforms we own and built end to end. A fictional association built on the real stack, so you can click through it. And work described by sector, with the client’s written permission or not at all.

HollywoodCast

Talent directory

Designed and built end to end on Next.js and PostgreSQL on Supabase.

Built from scratch, owned outright

HollywoodCast

A two-sided casting marketplace, designed and built end to end on the same stack we use for member platforms: Next.js and PostgreSQL on Supabase. Profiles, a searchable directory, subscriptions, verification and messaging between two kinds of members.

The named builds on this site are our own: this one and Cozy Pines Press. They are evidence of capability, not association products.

Screens show sample profiles only. No real member is shown.

Built from scratch, owned outright

Cozy Pines Press

A small publisher of big, simple coloring books, printed and sold through Amazon. The website is a directory of the books: search and filter by category and by who it is for, and every Buy button goes to the book’s own Amazon page.

Behind it, an admin where the owner adds and edits books, categories and subscribers without touching code, and a double opt-in signup for free pages. Next.js, with PostgreSQL, sign-in and storage on Supabase.

Screens show the books listed on cozypinespress.com.

The demo build

Northbridge Alliance

A fictional trade network of 1,400 member firms in 38 countries, built end to end on the real stack so you can see a working platform before you commit to anything.

Directory, renewals, events, chapters, member-to-member requests and the staff view, with sample data that resets before every call.

07 — Questions

Answered before the meeting.

The association. Full source code, data and infrastructure accounts are in its name from day one.

Start with a three-week audit.

A few questions, a reply within two business days, then a blueprint and a fixed quote. Yours to keep either way.
